Used for SO₂ gas monitoring. The monitoring principle is based on spectral absorption method:
SO₂ gas has the strongest absorption at the 7.3 μm infrared band. When a constant beam of 7.3 μm infrared light passes through SO₂-containing gas, part of the light is absorbed by SO₂ gas and the light intensity decreases. The concentration of SO₂ gas is determined by measuring the light intensity.
